Glentoran Gazette for the game that never was
Friday 15th August '08
Last Saturday proved to be a big disappointment for all with the cancellation of football however for the members of the Glentoran Supporters Committee (1923) it proved to be a real financial nightmare as we had gone to print with what we hoped to be our first full Gazette of the season.

It was first thought that the game with Ballymena would have been played last Tuesday ,so we had hoped to sell the Gazette that night and hopefully a much smaller financial loss would have been suffered , perhaps we may have broke even.

Sadly this was not to be as it now transpires that the games from last Saturday will now be replayed in October or possibly later in the season thus making the original Gazette obsolete as it would be out of date.
As such we are now left with 500 programmes for a match that never was and with the 1923 well out of pocket, with no apparent effort by the IFA / Referees to reimburse us for our wasted product.

This Saturday, we hope to have a game against Glenavon, at which we will launch the new look and full 44 page Glentoran Gazette. Most of the features from the Gazette for the ill-fated Ballymena game have been inserted into the Glenavon programme and new features added.
However, we feel that there still might be some interest among Glentoran fans / collectors in purchasing a copy of the Gazette from the Ballymena game. With this in mind we will be making them available for sale on Saturday at a reduced price of £1, in the hope of recovering some of our losses.

If you would like to purchase a copy, simply contact anyone of the programme sellers on Saturday and they will gladly sell one to you.

As always thank you all for your continued support of the Gazette throughout the season.
